New York state is taking a more direct approach at containing the coronavirus in areas where positive case numbers have spiked.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo says the state is starting a micro-cluster strategy that will target spikes in cases on a block-by-block basis.

That means the state can designate a red zone with the least amount of disruption to the surrounding community as possible.

"To make it happen is the trick...That is how this works and the devil is in the execution,” Cuomo said at a news conference Saturday.

The governor said if people are following the rules, there should be no issue. He said clusters are popping up where people are breaking the rules.
