ALBANY, N.Y. -- For the 67th year, people at the Capital City Rescue Mission took time out of their holiday to ensure others enjoyed a Christmas dinner.
Over 3,500 meals were prepared by the mission and distributed in their dining hall on South Pearl Street Christmas Day. Meals were also distributed outside for people to take home.
Just down the street, members of the mission also handed out gifts to kids. But organizers say they can't take all the credit.
"The holiday has been provided for not only the Good Lord himself, but by all the citizens of the Capital Region that have been so faithful. Merry Christmas to all you because you are awesome. An awesome citizenry that supports this place," said Perry Jones, of the Capital City Rescue Mission.
All the leftovers from the Christmas dinner will become meals the rescue mission serves during the week. They serve about 800 meals a day.
