It’s been two years since the Schoharie limousine crash that claimed the lives of 20 people.
Advocates and lawmakers have been hard at work in the time since, fighting for and passing legislation to prevent any other unnecessary tragedies.

Bills updating drug and alcohol testing for limousine drivers; requirements to operate limousines; increases in penalties for traffic violations; stricter requirements for insurance; and the creation of a "passenger safety task force" have already been put into place. There have also been changes to requirements for GPS systems and seat belts. And more legislation, like changing the class of license necessary to drive a stretch limo and a state hotline for reporting issues with stretch limos, is set to take effect next year.
Despite these efforts, the grief from that day still lives on in the Schoharie community. Monday, a wreath was laid at the memorial that sits at the crash site.
