Two people — a student and a staff member — were injured and one person was arrested during a fight Thursday morning at Albany High School, school officials said.
The school went on lockdown at around 11:45 a.m. Thursday following a report of a person with a weapon inside in the building, according to school officials.
The district said a fight between two students led to intervention by a hall monitor, with the hall monitor sustaining a concussion and a minor laceration, and a 14-year-old student suffered what the district called minor lacerations. Both were taken to Albany Medical Center.
The school was locked down for a little more than an hour. Albany Police arrested a student, also 14 years old, and recovered a knife, according to the district and the APD. Students were dismissed at 1:30 p.m.
The school district is continuing to investigate the matter with Albany police.
Albany High School will move to distance learning Friday, the district announced in a statement Thursday afternoon. The distance learning model includes classes at Abrookin Career and Technical Center.
