A controversial high school football title game ended with a Buffalo victory Tuesday night.
Buffalo's Bennett High School earned a 26-14 victory over Rochester's McQuaid Jesuit High School.
The game kicked off just hours after a judge ruled it could be played. It was moved from the weekend after a COVID-19 outbreak on the McQuaid team. Legal action taken by McQuaid led to the postponement.
Buffalo school leaders had called for McQuaid to forfeit because their team had not followed local health mandates and called the postponement a racial and equity issue.
The team from Buffalo prevailed in the end. They move on to the Class AA semifinals.
