A man in Halfmoon has been charged with giving drugs to children and sexually abusing them.
James Satalino is charged with criminal sexual acts, sexual abuse, and use of a child in sexual performance. The Saratoga County Sheriff's Office says Satalino inappropriately touched at least two children younger than 11, and then took sexually revealing photos of them.
We're told it all took place at the Andrea Court apartment complex in Halfmoon. They say he also gave them gummy candies infused with marijuana, resulting in a drug sale charge.
We are also learning now that Satalino previously worked for Albany County in the Department of Social Services between 1981 and 2012.
In a statement, a spokeperson for Albany County said, "We are currently working with the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office and reviewing our files to determine his responsibilities over that time period.”
The sheriff says they first began the investigation because one of the victims spoke up and told an adult. They are now warning parents and looking for any more potential victims.
“They had the foresight of saying something to adult — that started this investigation. I guess that’s the message I want to send to the public. You know, talk to your kids if you're letting your kids stay at different locations, talk to them, make sure nothing of this type of activity is going on inside these residences. But it’s pretty horrific, based on the information we’ve been receiving thus far,” the sheriff said.
The sheriff says there may be more charges against Satalino. He is currently being held in the Saratoga County Jail.
