Albany police and police at the Department of Veterans Affairs Hospital held an active threat drill at the hospital Friday.
The demonstration began with an armed man running into a building on the medical center's campus. The police then coordinated with city and county departments, trying to slow everything down, with the hopes of ultimately reaching a peaceful solution with the suspect.
Those taking part say the first few minutes are the key.
Because patients with post-traumatic stress disorder could be triggered by this type of event, they were all notified ahead of time about the training.
