Tuesday is the last day that 18-year-olds will be able to legally buy tobacco products in New York State.
On Wednesday, the new law will raise the age to 21.
The American Lung Association says more than 28% of high schoolers across the state report using tobacco products.
The state health department website says those caught selling to minors face fines and could lose their license to sell lottery tickets or tobacco products.
