Robert Guaderrama joined the Spectrum News 1 team in April 2021.
Originally from San Diego, Robert has reported across the country before landing in upstate New York. Although not native to the area, he sees the local community as his extended family and feels its his duty to give people reliable and unbiased news.
Previously the chief political reporter at his last news station in Orlando, Robert ran its Election 2020 coverage. He has won two Regional Emmys and two Texas Associated Press awards in journalism, reporting on a range of stories. One Emmy was for “Team Coverage”, won for his story about the George Floyd and Black Lives Matter protests in Orlando. However, Robert’s most memorable story was about Honor Flights, which allowed U.S veterans to take free trips to see memorials in their honor. He is married to a veteran, and loved the opportunity to bring attention to the troops and show gratitude for their service.
Robert is proud to call upstate New York home. When Robert is not anchoring, you may find him walking in one of our area’s parks with his husband Nico and dog Jessie. He also enjoys staying fit at the gym and eating at local restaurants.
