There have been 148,331 early votes cast for the August primaries in New York state, numbers released Monday by the state Board of Elections found.
The busiest day of early voting in the state was on the final day when 22,714 votes were cast, the numbers show.
Just over half of the early votes — 76,335 votes — were cast in New York City during the nine days of early voting.
New Yorkers are voting for Democratic and Republican nominees for congressional and state Senate general election matchups this November.
When Republican and Democratic voters had statewide gubernatorial primaries to consider in June, there were 178,223 votes cast ahead of Election Day.
Voters registered in a party will consider primary contests for a range of congressional and state Senate races. The state's primaries this year were split into two different days of voting after a legal challenge to newly drawn district maps for the state Senate and House of Representatives.
The court challenge was successful and new maps were drawn in May, pushing the primaries for those offices back in the process.
