BUFFALO, N.Y. — Memorials are now on display in and around Allentown for the victims of Tuesday's double homicide in Buffalo.
Buffalo Police say Michael Harmon, 40, and Jordan Celotto, 37, were found dead in their Allentown home from blunt force trauma.
A person of interest is in custody, according to police.
City officials say Harmon and Celotto were members of the LGBTQ+ community and were partners. They say right now there is no indication of a hate crime, but they will follow up on any leads they receive.
A motive has not yet been released.
People who knew the couple or know of them have been placing flowers and candles at the site of a mural Harmon and another local artist named Ari Moore painted on the wall of Edison's Proof and Provision. It pays tribute to historical figures in the LGBTQ+ community.
“What this mural does is it says that people have value, everyone has value," said Jonathan White, communications chair of the Allentown Association. "And so it's a perfect place to have a memorial to these two gentlemen, because they had value and they were valued by this community.”
Harmon was planning an event this weekend called "Queertopia" at Nietzsche's to showcase local queer art and performances. The event is now going to be a memorial event with free admission.
Those grieving are also invited to drop-in for counseling at Whole Stories Therapy for free on Saturday between 3:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. at 257 Lafayette St.
