Orange County Democrats announced their candidates to run for county executive and district attorney.
Civil rights attorney Michael Sussman will challenge incumbent Republican County Executive Steve Neuhaus, while former county chief District Attorney Alan Joseph will face off against Republican incumbent DA David Hoovler.
Sussman previously ran for state attorney general in 2018 as a Green Party candidate. He says in this race, his priorities include bringing more housing to Orange County, investing in the green economy and the county’s three cities.
“There’s a whole spiral and that spiral has got to be addressed and dealt with, people all over the county need to recognize this is in our whole county's interest," Sussman said. "It's not just in the city's interests, because the less problems we have in the cities, less criminality we have in the cities, the more we can focus on doing other things with our money.”
In a statement, Neuhaus’ team said, in part, "I am very proud of my record and the team that I have put together to run Orange County. We have lowered taxes, reduced the size of government and reduced the debt, all while expanding our parks system and open space for public enjoyment.”
