The Herkimer-Oneida Counties Transportation Council is working on "A Planning and Environment Linkages Study" focused on the state Thruway Exit 31 interchange at North Genesee Street in Utica.

The study looks to address economic development challenges, safety concerns, multi-modal mobility and roadway system linkages.

As part of the study, the council hosted a public open house on Tuesday for people to meet the study team and share feedback and suggestions.

"We’re showing them what it is today and what options exist for making to safer, better, easier to travel on and we’re giving them those options so they can tell us what options they might like," Oneida County Commissioner of Planning James Genovese said.

The council also launched an online survey for people to provide feedback that will be available until mid-January.
