Multiple agencies are continuing a search for a 9-year-old girl who went missing Saturday while riding her bike in a state park, officials said.
The girl was last seen riding her bicycle on Loop A inside Moreau Lake State Park at around 6:15 p.m. Saturday, New York State Police said.
Authorities believe she may have been abducted.
At a news conference Sunday, Gov. Kathy Hochul said the girl went out on a bike ride with close friends before dark, and after making multiple loops, she decided to go around the loop by herself, but failed to return 15 minutes later.
Police say her bike was located at Loop A at 6:45 p.m. Her mother called 911 a few minutes later.
“We are leaving no stone, no branch, no table, no cabin, unturned, untouched, or unexamined, in our search to find [the girl],” Hochul said.
The girl was wearing an orange tie-dye Pokémon shirt, dark blue pants, black Crocs and a grey bike helmet.
A command center was set up at the park. More than 100 personnel were initially deployed, including 75 law enforcement on the ground, an airboat, a boat with sonar equipped, six underwater rescue teams and two drones. Police say they are conducting interviews with those in the park and the region at the time.
Park police, forest rangers and K-9 units are taking part in the search as well as technology experts brought in to analyze electronic communications in the park at the time.
The search continued Monday, with what appeared to be an organized grid search at the park.
Police issued an Amber Alert on Sunday following overnight search efforts. State Police had arrived on the scene by 7:30 p.m. Saturday.
“Following our exhaustive search of the park, we took that step of issuing the Amber Alert because we felt that after that exhaustive search when we couldn’t find her here, it was quite possible that an [abduction] had taken place," Lt. Col. Richard L. Mazzone said.
"We just want her returned safely like any parent would," the family said in a statement. "No tip is too small; please call if you know anything at all."
The Corinth Central School District, in a statement, said she is a fourth grader in the district. A crisis team and extra counselors will be on site for students and staff, the district said.
"The [girl's] family has the full support of the entire Corinth district and community," the statement read.
Anyone with information is asked to call New York State Police at 518-457-6811 or dial 911.
