Spectrum has donated $2,500 to Community Life Support in Schaghticoke.

The nonprofit provides food and other needs for families, while also giving young people an opportunity to learn problem-solving skills as well as other general life skills like cooking and food management.

Those with the organization say they also want to set an example for kids by volunteering.

"It’s one of my main goals, is to help the youth understand the importance of volunteering and the benefits that can come from volunteering,” said Lynne Hardy, president of Community Life Support. “When you look around this room and see how many people are volunteering today, we want to be able to do that the same in 20 years."

The donation is part of Spectrum's Employee Community Grants program.
