The Queen’s Consul General in New York and trade commissioner for North America says the outpouring of support from New Yorkers and Americans coast to coast has been “heartwarming.”

Emma Wade-Smith says that at her base of operations in Manhattan, the news of the Queen’s death was extremely emotional.

She says the office in New York has been overwhelmed with well wishes and condolences in the days since the Queens passing, and the messages have poured in from all across the nation as well.

Wade-Smith says considering the relationship that the Queen built with the rest of the world over the course of her reign, it is no surprise that her passing has had such a profound impact here in New York State.

“The Queen‘s leader ship transcended nationalities and transcended decades and she really was this extraordinary matriarch and monarch and leader and I think people read across the world have really followed her lifetime of service,” Wade-Smith said.

She says she is looking forward to working to serve King Charles III and anticipates that he will also have a very personal relationship with the public.
