Eyes are fixed on Eastern Europe, where Russian forces have intensified their attacks on Ukraine, but in the Capital Region, Nani's Indian Kitchen is changing up its menu to support relief efforts for victims of the conflict.

It’s not the typical food customers find at Nani’s.

“Times are tough and if you can’t be there for each other, than I don’t know what else we can do," said Nafeesa Koslik of her restaurant.

It’s called holubtsi, a traditional Ukrainian stuffed cabbage dish.

“These are my cabbages," Koslik said. "I kind of steamed them and boiled them.”

Koslik will serve a modified version of holubtsi at her Ballston Spa restaurant over the next serval days.

“I kind of Indianized it a little bit," she said. "I put some spices, some raisins and it’s kind of like a fusion dish almost.”

She said all proceeds benefit World Central Kitchen and its relief efforts in Ukraine, a country that has been bombarded by Russian military forces in recent days.

Koslik said finding ways to help is a must.

“The what-if scenario goes through your head. What if it happened to us? What if it happened to one of my family members, my friends? How would we endure this difficulty?” Koslik said.
