If you plan to grill out and light off some fireworks on the Fourth, firefighters want you to be safe.

They ask for children to keep away from grills and fireworks, especially larger ones that only professionals should be handling.

Even for the bigger sparklers, safety experts say to use them far away from people and anything that may be able to catch on fire, especially with how dry it's been out.

"Everyone wants to have a good time. Everyone wants everyone to have a good time. It's not a good time when someone else's good time ruins someone else's fun, so you just gotta be mindful of your neighbors; mindful of what you're doing," said Chief John Faugh of the Rush Fire Department.

First responders say to avoid the risk of getting charged with use of illegal fireworks and that there are plenty of town displays to enjoy instead.
