If you're looking for ways to get outside this summer, more campgrounds and state sites are opening up with fewer restrictions.

The Department of Environmental Conservation says its sites are open at full capacity. In fact, reservations are at an all-time high.

The DEC operates 52 campgrounds in the Adirondacks and Catskills Parks. The sites offer all sorts of experiences including island camping, hiking trails, and day-use areas with picnic tables and grills.

"We have our newest facility in Essex County that just opened up two years ago and is going to be very popular,” Mike Buzzelli, DEC operations manager, said. “Many of our Lake George island camp sites are also extremely popular and are getting heavy use."

The DEC wants to warn people they are expecting a heavy tick presence, so be sure to bring repellent with you.
