Those in South Glens Falls have spent much of the past few months trying to figure out how to safely hold the school's largest charitable fundraiser.

Each year, students raise money for a number of local organizations and families through a dance marathon. With the pandemic, the event couldn't be held as it normally would on school grounds.

Instead, this year's marathon moved outdoors to Six Flags Great Escape. The theme park, which doesn't open until May 1, provided students with a place to dance and social distance.

"It didn't feel real until I got here, and it's the same as last year. It's so exciting," says Rachael Basile, a senior and marathon dance chair.

Students are grouped in "pods" of ten, made up of people that would normally see each other outside of school. Everyone was also COVID-19 tested.

"Even though we're separated in these pods, still everybody's coming together safely," says Maddison Walter, another event chairperson, "This is really nice."

This year's dance benefits 24 recipients.
