With the reopening of the South Troy Pool pushed back, the city of Troy announced plans on Friday to help people cool off.

Starting next week, residents will have access to an indoor pool run by the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Capital District.

Friday, it was nearly 90 degrees in Troy and the South Troy Pool remained closed. The mayor's office says a lot of work has already been done to get it back open but there is still a lot of work to do.

Beginning next Tuesday, the Boys and Girls Clubhouse pool on 7th Ave., will open to locals Monday through Friday 6-8 p.m., Saturday and Sunday from 1-6 p.m. This will continue until repairs are complete.

The local club director says this a good opportunity to introduce people to their services.

“Even though it is an indoor pool, we just figured we would give the community an opportunity to cool off during the summer while we wait for the south Troy pool to be completed,” said BGGCA Chief Operations Officer Patrick Doyle.

The club is also working with the city to operate the south Troy pool once it’s ready.

The mayor's office says work has taken a little longer because concrete needs to be replaced and a wet spring slowed things down.
