The families of the Schoharie Limo crash victims voiced their frustrations after the limo safety regulations they championed for stalled at the end of the New York state legislative session.
The Assembly and the Senate did vote in favor of stronger laws during the session. But differences in bill language between the two chambers and questions over how far the state's authority can reach could not be worked out by session's end.
The families issued a strongly worded statement on Tuesday, saying they are disappointed to see lawmakers pointing fingers at one another when the measures could have helped saved lives. They're calling for a special session to get these items done.
The statement reads in part "perhaps they believe we will go away, and the limo lobbyists can continue to feather the politicians’ campaign war chests. We are not going away. We are more determined than ever to hold our legislators accountable and to do their jobs.”
