Saturday morning, there was an urgent rescue at Thacher State Park.
Albany County Sheriff Craig Apple says it all started with a 911 call around 6:30 a.m. from someone saying their friend fell off the overlook.
He tells us 19-year-old Dylan J. Dunney from Guilderland, crossed the barrier at the overlook and plunged about a hundred feet into the ravine, before sliding even farther from help.
A press release placed Dunney about 150 feet straight down and nearly 400 feet from the cliff face.
The release says a low and high angle technical rope rescue was used for the four hours it took to get Dunney, who was brought over the edge in critical condition.
Sheriff Apple says both the victim and the person who reported the fall had been drinking.
The teen was placed in a helicopter and flown to Albany Medical Center.
One person was taken into custody for trespassing and unlawfully dealing. Apple says those charges may change if the victim of this fall does not survive.
