An Albany couple is celebrating their long-time love this spring.
Barry and Edna Sparks said "I do" 70 years ago. Since then, they've owned dry cleaners in Arbor Hill and Colonie and have been running them for the past 50 years.
The couple's long-standing contribution to Albany's life and culture led Mayor Kathy Sheehan and city officials to declare a "Barry and Edna Sparks Day."
The couple says working together is the secret of making a marriage work for so long.
"She was working with me in the business, and we worked together," said Barry Sparks.
"It was something that we were building," Edna added. "It wasn't building it for me, it was building it for the family."
Barry and Edna have eight kids, nine grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grand children.
