City leaders are one step closer to re-opening the South Troy Pool.
Earlier this week the city began seeking bids to renovate the pool, which has remained closed for the past two summers. This past fall the city council authorized spending 1$.4 million on repairs.
Aiming to have the repairs finished and the pool opened by July 1st, Mayor Patrick Madden believes it's vital the city's children have a safe place to swim.
"Some weeks in the past couple of summers have been just terribly hot and if you're living without the benefit of air conditioning, which a lot of kids don't have, it's a nice way to cool off and stay safe," said Madden.
City leaders are still considering their options at the Knickerbocker Pool, which has also remained closed.
