Congressman Antonio Delgado joins a bipartisan task force to address water contamination in the state.

Delgado joined the Congressional PFAS Task Force and is a co-sponsor of a bill that makes all PFAS chemicals hazardous substances and allows the Environmental Protection Agency to clean up contaminated sites in New York and across the country.

Hoosick Falls and Petersburgh are still in the midst of their water contamination crises. Delgado says from what he's seen firsthand in those communities, it's an alarming situation that needs to be addressed.

"It's important that we do the work to highlight the urgency, not only from a health aspect, but by an economic aspect," said Delgado (D - NY19). "A number of my constituents [are] talking about property value has plummeted as a result, a number [are] talking about the fact that the individuals with the company responsible for the pollution in the water have not been held responsible, and for some, the remediation has not been fast enough."

The congressional task force will also host informational sessions to educate congressional leaders about water contamination and work for more funding to clean up PFOS and PFOA pollution.
