Homeless veterans got a helping hand from hockey players this weekend.

For the second year in a row, LaSalle hosted the Cadets for Vets fundraiser. It supports the Albany Housing Coalition which offers housing and job placement for those who've served.

While LaSalle faced off against Saratoga Saturday night, fans had the chance to donate, buy merchandise, or grab some raffle tickets. Funds support basic household needs, furniture and food.

"These donations are a tremendous help, and it really does help," said Ron Ranellucci. "It's always looking for more and more places for veterans, and more funding needed for things these guys need. It could be clothes, it could be food."

Organizers set out to raise more than $8,000.
