A cat is safe after being rescued, not from a tree but from between the engine and oil pan of a car.

The Defreestville Fire Department shared images of the rescue on Facebook Saturday.

It happened just outside the Bloomingrove Veterinary Hospital. Crews say other than a few bumps and scrapes, the cat was unharmed and brought inside the hospital to get checked out.

The department says this was the first call for its new truck Rescue 9. The truck's main function is to respond to calls like this, which require stabilization and patient extrication.

Crews had to jack up the car up on one side to reach the kitty.
