Scotia Police released a statement identifying the woman in the Thursday evening crash as 70-year-old Kathleen Allen of Mohawk Avenue. She was hit while crossing from the south side of the street to the north side, confirmed police.

As Allen was headed to the Xtra Mart, she was hit in the left eastbound lane by a 2006 Jeep SUV, driven by Robert Delamater, 58, of Scotia, says police. They also note Allen was wearing dark clothing while trying to cross four lanes without a crosswalk.

The crash happened around 6:40 p.m.

Delamater is cooperating, according to police, and was not injured. Allen was taken to Ellis Hospital Wednesday night — her autopsy showed cause of death was blunt force trauama.

The invetsigation is ongoing.
