UPDATE: North Greenbush police have provided an update to a string of burglaries from last week saying they could be connected to a crime ring.

On Tuesday, police informed us of two separate burglaries, where three suspects distracted homeowners by posing as water department workers.

Now, investigators are connecting the incidents to several others.

It is believed the suspects were passing through North Greenbush, while traveling through the northeast committing other crimes.

Police also have found the car they believe to be involved with the burglaries.

Anyone with information is asked to contact North Greenbush police.

North Greenbush Police are investigating two similar burglaries in the town.

Police are calling the incidents "distraction burglaries," where the suspects pose as utility company employees to gain access to the home.

The first incident happened around 5 p.m. Tuesday on Douglas Street. Three white men, allegedly pretending to be with the water department, were able to gain entrance to the home. Once inside, two of the men distracted the homeowner, while the third began going through closets and dressers. After the homeowner became suspicious, police say the men left.

The other alleged incident happened soon after on Winter Street Extension. Police say again, the three distracted the owner while ransacking the home — leaving when the homeowner realized.

"It’s a distraction if someone is knocking on the door and you see other people," said Cliff Ruschmeyer, an officer for the North Greenbush Police Department. " 'Where did they go?' Ask that person; have those people come out front; because remember, it's still your house."

North Greenbush Police say it's likely that these were not the only incidents Tuesday, and encourage anyone with information to contact police.

"Any leads, anything you might think suspicious in regards to this past incident, yeah, we'd love to hear from you," said Ruschmeyer.
