SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. -- Race goers get to see more than 150 years of history when they visit the Saratoga Race Course and the New York Racing Association is making sure future generations have the opportunity to see some of that history.

During the offseason, NYRA replaced the poorly functioning red and white awnings with copper all along the Saratoga Clubhouse roofline.

It helps prevent water from winter from seeping in, protecting the infrastructure of the clubhouse.

"What’s important for racing fans 50 years from now is this great building here for many years to come,” said NYRA President and CEO Chris Kay.

Throughout 2016 and 2017, NYRA also added copper accents to the paddock mutual building and clubhouse escalator.
