New cameras went up Monday in Albany, and a family is hoping to do its part to combat the rising violence in the city's streets.

The cameras are being installed around the JC Club near First and Quail streets. That's right by where 31-year-old Kahlil Barnes was fatally shot Saturday morning.

The JC Club is affiliated with Pastor Charlie Muller and the Victory Christian Church.

Muller's daughter, Cassie, runs the club helping to feed and care for Albany kids. She says the new cameras will wrap around the building, and provide a constant watch on an area that's seen more than its share of violence.

"A lot of times you’re in places and it says you're being watched; you know, that itself pushes people away from doing wrong things," Cassie said. "The hope would be people would see and know this isn’t a block [where] you can do that stuff anymore. There’s children here, there’s family here, and if something does happen, [we are] able to have that footage to give to the authorities."

The new cameras have night vision.

The Victory Christian Church is offering $5,000 to anyone with information that leads to a conviction in Kahlil Barnes' killing. The JC Club is also hosting a community prayer vigil tomorrow night at 7.
