TROY, N.Y. -- A three-generation legacy continues as the Troy police force swore in its newest member.

Samantha Rivet is now officially a sworn officer of the Troy Police Department, following in the footsteps of her father and grandfather. Rivet says there was no pressure to join the family business. 

"Absolutely not; it was quite the opposite for a while. My parents were a little nervous about me entering the field," Samantha said. "But now they saw it's really what I wanted to do, and they have been very supportive."

Rivet will go to the police academy before joining the force full time.
