HUDSON, N.Y. -- The Wick Hotel, opening on Sross Street in Hudson after two years of construction, has 55 guest rooms inside a building where people made candles in the 1800s.

The $10 million project was developed by Redburn Devlopment, a Troy-based real estate company.

"I think what people will see and recognize the most is the really cool design," said Tom Rossi, Redburn Development. "We have exposed mechanicals in the hallways, we’ve got a lot of historic restored floors, some of the floors date back to the 1860s and some of the various artwork, having a clean modern design while also paying homage to the industrial heritage of this county."

Hudson Mayor Rick Cector says The Wick is one of the most pivotal things to happen in the community in years.
