COHOES, N.Y. -- A Cohoes flower shop damaged in the November fire that devastated the community is working hard to keep up with Valentine's Day orders.
Rizzo's House of Flowers on Remsen Street says Wednesday is a day it looks forward to and dreads at the same time. Rizzo's co-owner says deliveries began Wednesday morning -- and the phone has been ringing off the hook all day.
The business has been slowly making repairs since the fire, while also planning for Christmas and Valentine's Day.
“We had no front cooler for a while; we lost that," said co-owner Louis Rizzo. "That on top of we have to redo the floors. We just got the glass in in front of the building."
The shop took on water damage to its roof and recently replaced a flower cooler that was destroyed. It still needs to update the store's facade and get a new glass door.
Rizzo’s is directly across the street from where the fire began -- which the business ownership says has led to a loss in some foot traffic.
