GLOVERSVILLE, N.Y. -- A large fire at a mill broke out in the city of Gloversville Saturday morning.
The fire broke out around 7:30 a.m. at an abandoned leather factory on West 11th Avenue.
According to the Gloversville fire chief, the fire started in the back of the building.
The mill is surrounded by homes, but the fire was contained to just the one building.
Tom Groff, the Gloversville fire chief, said the factory presented various problems for them as they battled the blaze.
"It's a maze inside the building. There are a lot of different hazards. It's an old wood frame building so it's easily combustible. You don't want to put men in there that are going to get hurt," said Groff.
The cause is still under investigation, but the chief says they're not ruling out arson.
