ALBANY, N.Y. -- Albany Medical Center unveiled the name of its new pediatric emergency department on Friday. “The Massry Family Children’s Emergency Center" will serve children and teenagers who need emergency care.

The new facility is adjacent to the hospital's current emergency department. It's set to open this summer.

On Friday, the capital campaign was launched for the pediatric emergency department. They hope to raise $20 million to help pay for the $50 million facility. So far they’ve raised more than $14 million.

Each year 16,000 pediatric patients visit Albany Med’s emergency department. The new facility will be complete with a fast-track unit for less serious conditions, on-site x-rays and imaging, and private rooms.
