ALBANY, NY -- The inaugural state of the university system address was given Monday at the Capital City Center where the school system highlights its vision for the upcoming year.

SUNY Chancellor Kristina Johnson said they need to place their focus on several key items including innovation, individualized education, and sustainability.

She said if they do this, then SUNY can stay as a top university system.

"I learned that SUNY is unlike any other university system in its scope and range and it's up to us to define our own best model,” said Johnson. “We are distinguished universities, and academic medical centers, liberal arts colleges. Community colleges and colleges of agricultural and technology."

SUNY has 64 campuses and nearly 3.1 million students.
