A family in Hoosick Falls has been displaced by a Thursday morning fire.

Firefighters responded just before 11 a.m. to the house on Waldron Avenue.

According to Assistant Fire Chief Jonathan Coon, the bitter cold hampered efforts. Additional departments were called in to help with water supply due to a frozen hydrant at the scene.

"The icy conditions for us are real tough for us. People have fallen a couple of times already," Coon said. "I will report that we do have one firefighter that was injured. He had an eye injury, but he is being treated for it and is being released."

Crews remained on scene for several hours dousing remaining hot spots. Two adults and two children, along with several pets, are getting assistance.
