SAN ANTONIO — It’s the first of its kind water theme park in the world and it’s located here in the Alamo City.
Morgan’s Wonderland newest water attraction called Morgan’s Inspirational Island opens this weekend.
“Everyone is welcomed here. This is a park where everyone enjoys and has fun together,” said Gordon Hartman, CEO of the Gordon Hartman Family Foundation.
The $17 million expansion took about three years to complete — adding more than 3 acres to the existing park.
The new splash park features five water play areas filled with pools, geysers and waterfalls.
Guests also get access to some cool high-tech innovations, like waterproof wheelchairs.
“We also have developed a pneumatic wheelchair, basically one that will work of compressed air. They can change over to one of those wheelchairs in a private area that we have and then come out and enjoy the entire park totally independent of anyone else,” said Hartman.
Some families are already calling the park their new summer destination.
“It’s absolutely amazing. We’ve been to several water parks in the last couple of years and nothing compares to this one,” said San Antonio resident Emily Belden.
“They really are a Godsent to all these kids, and it’s a special place,” said San Antonio resident Blanca Garcia.
Morgan’s Inspiration Island Splash Park opens this Saturday.
