SPECTRUM NEWS VIDEO: The perfect memory of the Schoharie Creek stretches 93 miles through some of upstate New York's most serene farmland and forest. Every day, tens of thousands of people travel right over it without a second thought of what's below.

Since 1960, the Empire State's straight shot between its biggest cities - an ever reliable route from New York City to Buffalo and back. Until one day in April.

The bridge carrying that reliable road over the rising creek was giving way below the water. A witness thought they saw a tractor-trailer crash through the guardrails and plummet into the water, but when the view cleared, a gaping hole was all that remained of the bridge.

The tragedy killed 10 people that day, one that remains in the memory of those who witnessed it.
