ALBANY, N.Y. — In a wide-ranging interview Wednesday morning, Albany's new interim police chief talked about his life in the Capital City, and his hopes and dreams for the future of the police department.

Robert Sears welcomed a Time Warner Cable News crew to police headquarters on his first full day serving as interim chief.

The 18-year veteran officer credited his predecessors Steven Krokoff and Brendan Cox for setting the Albany Police on a steady course, and says he plans to continue that momentum by implementing the department's strategic plan.

Sears shared details about his life and family, and spoke at length about his childhood friendship with Dontay Ivy, an Albany man who died after a scuffle with police in 2015.
