Local law enforcement and civilians alike gather for a basketball game to support a teenager who lost his family in a tragedy earlier this year.

Noah Roman, 15, is the sole survivor of a murder-suicide in Latham back in February. Law enforcement pitched the idea for the fundraiser game to administrators at Shaker High School, where Roman is a student.

Friday evening, state police troopers and officers from Albany and Rensselaer County corrections departments played with Shaker faculty.

Organizers say that, after the success of other community fundraisers earlier this year, they wanted to do something of their own.

"Some time has gone by, so I think it's really good that we're reminding people [that] while it may have faded out in the media, it's still in the forefront of the people who were affected by this," said David Stadtlander, supervisor of secondary health, physical education and athletics at Shaker.

All of the money raised will go to Roman and his family.
