It's a project more than 20 years in the making and now it's one step closer being completed.

The Mohawk Valley Gateway Overlook has been under construction for over a year now, but delays have slowed its progress.

On Monday, Amsterdam Mayor Ann Thane announcing the city has received an additional grant from the Department of Transportation.

The $350,000 grant will match a Department of State grant for the project.

The city hopes to use the money to redesign portions of the walkway, which were taken out due to increased cost. 

A round of public hearings will be conducted, with the first taking place at 6 P.M. on Thursday October 29th in the Common Council Chambers at City Hall.
