TROY, N.Y. -- The sentencing for a former Troy police officer who pleaded guilty to charges related to interfering with a drug investigation has been adjourned until next month.
Brian Gross was originally scheduled to appear in Rensselaer County Court Tuesday. He pleaded guilty to counts of official misconduct, and divulging an eavesdropping warrant back in June. The attorney general's office says he tipped off drug dealers about upcoming raids.
Investigators say back in February of last year, they searched five places where they observed drug trafficking, but did not find any evidence. They say Gross called an alleged dealer ahead of those raids.
As part of a plea agreement, Gross is expected to be sentenced to three years probation, and will be forced resign from the Troy Police Department, and agree to never seek employment with a law enforcement agency.
He's also expected to pay more than $5,000 in restitution to the New York state police.
