The child advocacy group Kenneth's Army gathered with several state Assembly members Thursday to announce an event in honor of Kenneth White.

The organization is holding a motorcycle ride to raise money for a scholarship in Kenneth's name.

The 5-year-old was killed in Berne in December, and his cousin faces murder charges in connection with his death.

Ever since, the group called Kenneth's Army has been fighting to shed light on child neglect and abuse.

Assemblywoman Patricia Fahey thanked the organization for their work.

"The only redeeming piece of this is that such goodwill and such a sense of humanity and community can come out of such a horrendous tragedy," said Fahy, D-Albany.

"I'll never forgot what that felt like and how the whole community came together. I don't think there was a person who didn't sit in front of their computer tv or radio all day," said Michelle Fusco, the organization's president.

The ride will kick off at 10 a.m. on June 6 at the main entrance to Thatcher Park.
