Damar Hamlin is teaming up with the American Heart Association to launch a CPR awareness challenge.

It has three steps, which is also Hamlin's jersey number.

"I'm excited to be teaming up with the American Heart Association," said Hamlin. "It's going to be an amazing opportunity to impact and educate millions of people on the importance of CPR. It literally saved my life."

Step one encourages you to check out a short video on the association's website. The video goes over what to expect when CPR is needed and how to help someone who may need it.

Step two asks you to help raise money. Donations will benefit CPR training and other life-saving programs at the American Heart Association.

The last step asks people to challenge three friends on social media to join the challenge.

"The world watched in fear when Damar collapsed during that game," said Nancy Brown, chief executive officer of the American Heart Association. "But if you follow his advice, you can become a lifesaver in 3 steps, and you’ll know what to do in the event an adult or teen suddenly collapses in your presence. Because most cardiac arrests that happen outside of a hospital occur in the home, the life you save will most likely be a loved one. The volunteers, supporters and staff of the American Heart Association are so grateful that he is paying it forward and helping ensure others also have a better chance for a positive outcome."

First responders used CPR to save Hamlin's life after he collapsed during the Monday night football game against the Cincinnati Bengals.
