The U.S. Attorney's Office has announced that Cohoes Mayor Shawn Morse's former campaign treasurer has pleaded guilty to conspiring with Morse to steal campaign contributions.

Ralph Signoracci, 44, entered a guilty plea Thursday in federal court. The contributions, Signoracci said, were used to pay for Morse's personal expenses.

Signoracci also admitted that he falsely reported where the money was going, and that he sometimes didn't report it at all.

Signoracci was also a Cohoes Common Council Member and Albany County Legislator. He's facing 20 years in prison.

Morse was arrested by the FBI at his home last week and indicted on federal conspiracy and wire fraud charges. He pleaded not guilty, and in a post on Facebook, called the case a "hurdle" and saying that it would be "over soon."

Morse also faces 20 years in prison if he's convicted.
