A Green Island teenager is facing a number of sexual assault charges. His alleged victims: all teenagers themselves.

According to Albany County Sheriff Craig Apple, five victims have come forward and there’s potential for that to double.

The sheriff’s office got involved after being contacted by the Heatly School and Green Island Police Department.

Carlos Quinones, 16, is facing a number of charges including rape, sexual abuse, and attempted criminal sexual act. According to Apple, Quinones would befriend the girls before luring them to his home. He calls Quinones a predator.

Green Island is a small community, as is Heatly. Law enforcement is asking for any other potential victims to come forward. It’s also believed some victims may be from other surrounding communities.

The sheriff’s office says it's doing whatever it can to help the victims.

"They didn’t do anything wrong here," Apple said. "They were intimidated by a bully, and he’s going to get his day too, but right now, our focus is on making sure these young girls have proper counseling and are able to go forward and live a healthy life."

Spectrum News did reach out to Heatly, which says this entire situation is very new and raw. The girls are getting counseling, and services are available for other students as well.

If you are a victim or may know of one, you are asked to contact the sheriff’s department.
