Noteworthy Resources of Albany has been a staple nonprofit in the Capital Region over the last four years.
“Being first-generation Albanian American, I’ve seen my family struggle with gathering resources and support as well as other folks in the area,” said Tatiana Gjergji, president and founder of Noteworthy Resources. “Whether they’re struggling with mental health or any other struggles they might face, why not have a supportive organization come together and build a safe space in the community?”
Noteworthy Resources is best known for its Skate Albany Program, which empowers people of all ages to pick up a skateboard and enhance their health and wellness. They also provide educational workshops, mental health support groups, and other events in the city.
Tatiana and her team were joined by elected officials and residents Saturday for the grand opening of their new community center on Lark Street.
“So we thought to kind of stay in the downtown area where there is a highly populated groups of people living here, so we can serve them as much as we can,” Gjergji said.
Previously, the organization didn’t have a space to call their own, and Tatiana said that this new center is only the beginning.
“This brick and mortar is just a stepping stone for what we want to do,” Gjergji said. ”So we want to open up a bigger community center where we can have an indoor skate park as well as having a section where we can host our support groups and workshops and other curriculum.”
